Contributed papers are invited for presentation at Aquaculture CanadaOM 2010 and NAIA Cold HarvestTM 2010. All topics related to aquaculture will be considered for inclusion into the conference. Proposed session topics will include: International Mussel Forum; Moving Aquaculture Forward - From Science to Innovation; Finfish Aquaculture; Fish Health; Aquaculture Sustainability; Socio-Economic Implications of Aquaculture for Local Communities; Training and Education; Aquatic Invasive Species; and many more sessions of relevance to industry including an update on regulatory reforms and advances in shellfish and finfish culture. Presentations must be of a scientific or technical nature, and a completed abstract form must be submitted through the AAC website. The deadline for receipt of abstracts has now been extended to March 19th, 2010.

M.Sc position(s) in Integrated Multi-trophic Aquacture (IMTA) Fisheries and Oceans Canada, in collaboration with the University of New Brunswick (Saint John Campus) and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, is undertaking a 5-year multi-disciplinary program of research in the field of Integrated Multi-trophic Aquaculture. One or two M.Sc. position(s) are available through the University of New Brunswick (Saint John) starting May or Sept 2010. The field of research will be to investigate energy and nutrient dispersal and scales of influence on wild species from open-water integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA) sites. A key aspect of this research will be to quantify changes in wild species distribution, abundance, and life history around aquaculture sites. The IMTA project requires a motivated and skilled student who is willing to work in the field along with a multidisciplinary team of researchers. Preference will be given to candidates with skills in aquatic field sampling, identification of aquatic marine organisms, database management, and multi-variate analysis of biodiversity and life history information.
