Aquatic Animal Husbandry Technician
Victoria, PEI
 
Reporting to the Aquatic Animal Resource Manager, you will provide the husbandry and work on test model development for salmonid fishes and other aquaculture species to be used in vaccine and pharmaceutical development applications. You will propagate and maintain the health of fish stocks and test animals in the Research & Development aquatic facility in Victoria, PEI, including grading, feeding and other husbandry aspects. You will provide the care and maintenance of the rearing systems; monitor and record data and observations accurately and in accordance with established protocols; and assist with post-mortems and tissue sampling.
 
With a Bachelor of Science and/or technical training in aquaculture, you will have experience in fish husbandry and clinical methods. You will have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and be willing to adapt new skills and methods. The availability to maintain a flexible work schedule involving some on-call and occasional weekend work is a must.
