The Aquaculture Division promotes, encourages and supports the development of economically and environmentally sustainable aquaculture in Nova Scotia. We are seeking an Aquaculture Development Biologist who will work within both the shellfish and finfish sectors to ensure that the aquaculture industry will provide employment and strengthen the economy in rural and coastal communities.

Duties:
Reporting to the Manager of Aquaculture Development, the Aquaculture Development Biologist provides professional and technical planning and development support for the ongoing development of aquaculture. and will focus on working closely with the industry, academic community, various federal and provincial government agencies and key stakeholders. Duties include providing technical assistance to the industry, participating in marine field operations and conducting laboratory analysis. Other duties related to activities of the Aquaculture Division, such as assistance with technical aspects of aquaculture applications, policy and program development as well as outreach and education activities are also required of these positions.
Qualifications:
University graduation with a Bachelor of Science in a related discipline. Must possess a broad range of skills and experience in aquaculture science and technology, field and laboratory work, policy and program development and multi-stakeholder communication. Excellent communications skills, facilitation and mediation skills, as well as diplomacy will be needed when dealing with the varied opinions of diverse stakeholders. Successful candidates must be prepared to work irregular hours and travel within and outside the province.
Classification Level: PR 5 - PR 12
Salary Range: $38,962 - $62,989 per year
