Do not let this opportunity pass you by! Bring your knowledge and interest in fish culture and leadership and supervisory skills to this challenging and rewarding position as a Fish Culture Station Manager with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources.

In this position you will manage the operation of the station to ensure delivery of a scientifically sound, environmentally acceptable, and ecologically sustainable fish culture program. You will lead and supervise a team of fish culture technicians and also plan and manage the budget, including estimating, forecasting and authorizing expenditures. as well as express judgment in resolving complex and contentious issues within your workplace. Additionally you will provide leadership, and project management skills to plan and implement operational projects and manage all aspects of production.

Qualifications:knowledge of current biological/ecological science and principles supporting effective management of fish culture operations, (e.g. genetics management, fish nutrition, fish health, husbandry practices, water quality and effluent management, and hatchery maintenance and construction); proven leadership and project management skills; supervisory skills to supervise staff, manage employee performance and act as a mentor to employees and technical staff; knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act to train staff to ensure safe working conditions; experience with business planning and financial management processes; ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation and policies such as Fish & Wildlife Conservation Act, Ontario Water Resources Act, Environmental Assessment Act, Federal Fisheries Act, Species at Risk Act and Environmental Bill of Rights; ability to utilize computer-based software; communication and interpersonal skills.
