The Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC (FFSBC) is private, non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors. The FFSBC delivers a wide range of fisheries management services and programs focused on fish culture, conservation, restoration, fisheries enhancement, public education, and the development and marketing of freshwater sport fishing in BC. FFSBC has a staff of approximately 75 union and non-union employees in eight locations throughout the province.


We are seeking an accomplished and innovative leader to join our management team as Operations, Facilities and Project Manager. The position can be located in Victoria, Duncan or Abbotsford. Reporting to the Vice President Operations, the Operations, Facilities and Project Manager is responsible for the planning and successful implementation of major facilities projects at FFSBC hatchery operations. The position provides support and direction to hatchery managers and facilities supervisors to ensure equipment and infrastructure maintenance and replacement programs and technology improvements help the FFSBC to meet its contractual obligations to the Province and other clients. The position also leads the planning and delivery of special fish culture capital projects where these projects require changes to present hatchery design and fish culture processes.

Qualifications - The successful candidate will be a self starter with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience, and a degree in biology, engineering, fish culture, business management, or a related discipline. Relevant experience could include fish culture production, fish culture physical plant operations, facilities, working in a team environment, and managing budgets. An ability to provide professional leadership, negotiate agreements, exert influence, achieve consensus, maintain credibility, and cooperate effectively with diverse groups is essential. Equivalent combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.


Some travel and work outside of normal hours of operation are required. Position excluded from Union membership.
